Work Bench 6 (Final)

Well finally got to be able to put some lacquer onto the bench. Put about 3 coats over most of it and about 6 on the top. Turned out nicely. Got all the draws back together, fitted the vice properly and secured down the top. Finally finished.

Moved it into position and made it ready to use. Can’t wait to give it a work out next week. There will be some shelves appearing on the wall above it as they are required over the next few months.

Now onto cleaning up the shed and getting ready for the next project.

Work Bench 5

Finally got the time and weather to be able to get the bench out and get some lacquer on it. About 3 coats should be enough.

Should be able to finish off the lacquer and put it all together tomorrow.

 

Work Bench 4

Over the last few days I’ve managed to get a couple more hours in the shed. The bench is progressing well. I’ve managed to build and fit the draws, fit the draw fronts and cut the bench top down to size. Also got the vice roughly mounted to were I want it to go.

I’ve just got to put some Bench Dog holes in the top and tidy up a few areas. Then I’ll dismantle parts of it so I can sand it down, and spray a couple of layers of poly on it. If the weather stays good, so I can move it outside to paint, I will hopefully have it finished this weekend.

Work Bench 2

Got a bit more time in the shed and got a bit more of the frame built.

There will be draws going in on the left hand side. Just waiting for the weather to clear up a bit so I can head out and pick up the ply I need to do the top, bottom shelf and draws.

Work Bench 1

Well I thought I’d bite the bullet and start a new project today. I’ve needed a new workbench for a while now, as all of my pen making stuff is taking up valuable work space. It’s going to be about 1900 long, 600 deep and 900 high. Once I get the basic frame built I’ll look at draws, shelves and cupboard. I don’t want it just to do my pen work on so I’ll have to look at vices and stuff as well.

I made a good start today and got the ends cut and assembled ( glued and screwed).

I’ll get a bit more done tomorrow (depending).
