Just got back from a couple of weeks away visiting relatives, and picking up some bits of wood, so I haven’t had anything to post for a while. Finally got back into the shed last week and I’ve been a bit busy working on some more items to sell at the markets.
First off I did up some Ice Cream Scoops. These are quite heavy, and the scoops are very well made. I have yet to try one out but I’m pretty sure that will be done before the end of the week.
I also did up some Coffee Scoops. These look quite nice. The scoop hold one tablespoon of coffee for easy measuring.
Lastly I did up some Fire Starters. These are a rod of magnesium with a flint mounted in it. You use the attached scraper to file off some of the metal, then use it to scrape the flint to get sparks that will light the magnesium. Great for when you are camping. They even come with a small compass in the end of the handle.
I’m also working on a couple of other project and hope to have them finished off soon. When I do you can expect another post.
Recently made up a little step for my Grand Niece so she can reach the kitchen counter. It’s a hack to an Ikea Step Stool with a little enclosed area on top so she doesn’t fall off. The niece is very happy with it and so is Edith. Didn’t turn out too bad.

It was a nice easy project that turned out very nicely in the end and made someone special very happy ( check out those cheeks).
Just finished up making 36 Trophies for the annual Wandandian Community Woodchop that is taking place next month. They usually give out ribbons but thought they’d do something different this year so asked me if I would make them up some trophies. There are both chopping and sawing events so I made up the trophies to show off the event they were for. If you’re in the area you should drop in a take a look. Also you can drop by my stall and look at the other wooden items that I make.
Been a busy week in the shed as I’ve been making up a lot of items for the weekend stalls and a couple of items on commission. I have also been trying some things out and made up a couple of new styles of pens to see how these go with my customers.
The first is a Sierra Style pen but with a click mechanism instead of the twist. It is a very stylish pen but I can only find it in the black and gold.
The other pen I’ve tried is the Panama Click Pen. This pen comes with a soft rubber tip so that it can also be used as a stylus on phones and tablets. Great when your fingers just won’t work properly on the keyboard.
Hoping the coming weekend is fine so that I can get to the Huskisson markets and get some sales under my belt. Drop by and see me if you’re in the area.
Finished of some pens for a friend of mine. She’s opening up her own Real Estate Agency and wanted some pens to give to her staff to welcome them on board. Hope it all goes well at Dwell Realty for you Barb.
Just updated all the photos I had of my stock that I sell at the markets. If you go to the “Marketwares” heading at the top menu, you can view them there. I’ll also be working on updating the photos of my pens over the next week or so, so stay tuned.
Just finished up and installed a bedhead that a client wanted for a house she is decorating. It was the first time I’d built something like this, so it was a bit of a challenge and good fun to build and figure out the best way to do it. She wanted a “Beachy Look” as it’s for a holiday rental house down the coast. I think it turned out alright and the client is very happy with it as well.
